Any reason to be optimistic about 2014?

We lose Garrett Gilbert, as well as Jeremy Johnson and Keenan Holman, two of our best receivers.
On defense, we lose Kenneth Acker, an all-conference cornerback, and Randell Joyner and Kevin Pope, two very talented inside linebackers.
Do we have some budding stars that I am overlooking?
I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

A hard core JJ support will come on here and give the usual pro JJ talking points.

Would love to see SMU go 11-1 or 12-0, crowned as AAC champs, and an invite to a BCS bowl. . . But, yeah! It's gonna be difficult to be optimistic about 2014 as currently configured with the direction of SMU Football.

Be careful everyone, we can't speak badly about the recruiting class or the players may get their feelings hurt and take their other offer they got from UTEP.

Louisville is leaving the AAC so that's one less asss kicking we could possibly endure.... But I'd rather have them here, the conference is taking a big hit

UCF had a great year
Cincinnati had a good year
Houston was decent
SMU was 4-4
USF has potential
Tulsa brings some game
ECU brings some game
I'm not worried for now. But hey this is the conference you want to stay in so enjoy!

We can all be optimistic that we might have a new coach who will recruit, engage the students, fans etc. and energize our program.

I think Burcham has something, looking forward to seeing more.
Also looking forward to the Senior leadership of Beau Barnes, and Stephon Sanders, and development of Zelt Minor.
And if DNA translates, then Bordano, Yenga, and Line I think can all play... And then there's Deion Sanders, Jr.
Offensive line was young this year, experience always key in OL.
But as an overall team, not so much.

The beginning of an NCAA Sweet Sixteen run in Nov. 2014. Oh wait, this is the football board. No, nothing to be excited about...
