Crowdtilt to buyout June's contract

Postby Oliver » Wed Dec 18, 2013 7:28 pm

Hey Guys, so we've started a crowdtilt campaign to raise remaining money to buyout June's contract (2MM). Please donate everything you can, and you're card wont be charged unless the final goal is met.

I know it's unrealistic, and you almost certainly wont end up giving any money, but let's at least make a statement by raising a good lump sum of money! It also might be too little too late, but let's continue to show our displeasure until this is over with.

Time to put your money where your mouth is, dissatisfaction lemurs. I say that if you've ever said or thought "Fire June Jones", at least match your season ticket value with a donation. You won't be charged unless it hits the $2M mark, and it might garnish some publicity.

Say we do hit the 2M mark it doesn't guarantee that the buy out will happen right? Would we get our $ back if the buyout doesn't go through? I like the idea of this though. We have some pretty Damn good fans if we can achieve this... makes me think we could come together to raise money for something greater if we can do this.

I'll contribute. Any chance we could get word of this mentioned in the Daily Campus or something? Realizing it will make little difference in the end likely but it's time the displeasure started becoming a little harder to ignore.

I doubt they'd be allowed to publish anything like this.

If we can raise the 2 Million to get June Jones bought out...then we could raise money for an IPF!!!

I dont think thats true. It's my understanding the DC operates independently from the school and from time to time the school gets pissed off and what they publish

Yes but ever since Richard Lytle left Student Media Company and was replaced by the current guy (Jay Miller?), the paper has been more about "investigative journalism" and opinion pieces rather than simply reporting the news well.

For the record, I appreciate investigative journalism. But some of the DC's stories over the past few years seem investigative for the sake of controversy rather than for the sake of presenting a complete story.

This is not an official buyout, it would be considered a gesture towards the Ath Dept and up to them to respond.

I was good friends with the editor from a few years ago and she once told me that the paper is only allowed to write negative things about Greek life. Anything positive might be shown as "favoritism". Not even anything about raising money for charities and philanthropies.

So the school does sensor things in some ways. That's the only reason I said that.
