Hart Emails

Why not make a thread for Hart emails?

On September 3rd you said to me "I will do my best to position our department for continued and greater success." The extension of June Jones shows that either your best is not good enough or you did not do your best due to some other factor. This is very disappointing to the few fans of SMU football that were left after June tried to bolt for ASU and after his recruiting is obviously sub par. You've made a big mistake and you will see why when June leaves the cupboard bare for the next coach that has to rebuild this program. As a freshman and sophomore band member I got to see every loss of the 1-11 seasons in 2007 and 2008. I fear we'll be back there soon enough when we continue on this journey. I'll be getting your Out Of Office reply and you may never see this but I have to let my voice be known that I will not be renewing my season tickets.

He just told me "Since you said you attend all the games, you can tell we are competitive for championships"

Seriously shoot him an email, he sees them. Especially if you're a student

If we continue to play teams ranked in the bottom 25, we have a chance. We could be the "Bottom 25" champions.

He replied to me a few times and said that he is always available. Told me when I come to Dallas to contact him and set up a time to talk. That was encouraging I guess.

But the lip service PR bullkrap "competitive for championships" is very disheartening. I got a similar response when discussing lack of leadership, recruiting, motivation, etcetera.

I respect him for sending a response, most AD's wouldn't do that. But yeah, Im not stupid, I didn't buy any of the BS Pr talk.

He's the first AD we've had since I have been a fan who would even answer questions from fans. My sense is that he is pleased with some things but knows there's a ton more work to do. I would agree.

The fact that he answers emails personally and responds on twitter is actually pretty amazing. Kudos to him for that. It's not like I'm writing huge checks or anything like that - just an MC member and a proud alum/fan.

That being said, I am hugely disappointed at the results on the football front and think an extension was idiotic, even if we didn't have $ for a buyout. I would have paid jones his $2m and let mason/mumme/JP coach this season. We needed a change in attitude, and firing your HC may have lit a fire under the staff and players next year.

Another year of Tiki head is just too much for most fans. A change was needed, even if no coach for the future was hired this year.

He has responded back to me the same day both times that I e-mailed him. I think he is
doing the best job he can with the limited power that he has and I sense from the way he
responded to me that he is aware that we have problems with our football coaching staff.

old adage - actions speak louder than words. Lip service is easy to give hoping that people soon forget.

Tiki Head, so funny. That is a nickname that can stick.

Now that is interesting. It's obvious there is a lot of "internal goings-on" the rest of us aren't aware of & in a way, perhaps that's good? If anything, this gives the administration & COC some needed time to think this out over the next year on their next step.

At the same time, perhaps Hart did his homework about who may or may not be interested in making a change (or who would be interested in the SMU job) among head & assistant coaches & wasn't really satisfied in his potential choices. Who knows???

He's responded to almost every one of my e-mails. While he may be way in over his head he is at least accessible to the masses. I did ask him if he would be willing to outline, in detail, why extending June Jones was the best thing for our football program at the next Mustang Club function. It ought to be interesting to hear his response.
