G Pat giving tour of their facilities

Postby feelthehorsepower » Thu Dec 26, 2013 11:16 pm

We don't even come close to the level of facilities the Frogs have at their disposal. I like how in the end he says that he tells the kids that they helped build the stadium with their performance

Just like JJ would...

Banned but posting under the name "Cargo Gunki." Extremely transparent name change: rearrange the letters to spell Cougar King

It really sucks seeing how our program has sort of flatlined while everyone else that we will play in 2014 are on the upswing (Baylor, UNT, Aggy, TCU, Houston, UCF, USF, UConn, Cincy etc)...

We reached our goal of 4 straight bowl games. Most ever in the history of smu. Plus we used to be really horrible. So we clearly should be very happy.

TCU - Big 12 Conference. Loaded for bear on defense and offensive revival coming due to new coordinators added to staff. Once they build Big 12 depth, we won't catch them...ever. Unless we are picked up by a BCS conference.

USF is recruiting at BCS levels, they have the best class in the Big East for 2014.

UConn has BCS talent and now a BCS level coach/staff.

Yes they are on the upswing

They play in the Big East aka American Athletic Conference...

Just remember, TCU's facilities were improved when they were in the Mountain West--even before they accepted and rejected the Faux Big East. It requires a board, an AD and a President all committed to winning as a tool to improve the perception and the student body at TCU--pretty simple. At SMU we are still fighting a Death Penalty we ourselves initiated. We could have vigorously defended ourselves and never been penalized to that degree. Hell, even in Texas a life sentence is generally subject to parole after 20 years! Here at SMU we are still whipping ourselves two decades and a half later.

SMU's problem is not enough people are "rowing in the same direction". It takes a leader to lay out the vision for the university and selling supporters on the fact that "if we do this then this will happen". Most people want to see results first but without the effort required. It takes more than just saying "top 25 in all we do".

In TCU's case, it was the coach who led the university and sold to the community that they could win big in Fort Worth, and he did deliver: Fiesta Bowl appearance, Rose Bowl win and Big 12 Membership. He drew the funds to build the stadium and the millionaire donor alumni poured money into the program because he effectively sold that TCU could be big time.

At SMU, the millionaire donors came first and then we paid for a coach to come here. We never had that leader who wanted to grow the program into what it could be: A Football Powerhouse.
