Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsThe big ten is garbage. Been saying it for years

Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsI hate Ohio State more than any other team in CFB. I love when they lose.
Oh hey Big 10...you haven't won a NC since 2002/03. Go away "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsSo much hat for so little cattle.
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsAnd yet the power of that fan base is dominating even if the football teams aren't.
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsThe advantage of winning a lot & consistently. If SMU & the people who condemn our small fan base would only realize that.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsClemson/Ohio was an exciting game last night although at times it looked like a competition to see who could give the game away. Love seeing the buckeyes lose, but looks like Urban is building a team that will be able to play with anyone in the country
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsThey haven't been faring well, but do you think anybody in the country wants to play Michigan State right now? Beat two top 5 teams (OSU and Stanford) in a row. If the playoffs were in play this year it'd be interesting.
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsMaybe it's time that they invite a team from North Texas to join the BIG to improve their recruiting.

Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsCouldn't hurt for them to play some games in the South-but some of them don't play road games

Urban is "building a team"?? Last year, his first, they went 12-0. This year they went 12-2. So he is "building" a team that will be able to play with anyone?? Explain, please.
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 Years
That record is all about who you play and MSU was pretty stout this year. I thought Clemson just ultimately had more speed and speed kills in warm weather locales and domes, where most big games are played. I was really impressed by some of the FR and see that Meyer is recruiting Texas and Florida hard. That's what I meant. OSU has always recruited Ohio, MI, PA, etc...but he's extending their reach to increase their team speed. Maybe that will hurt when they play in cold, mud and snow in those late season Big 10 games, but if they want to play with the teams that have been winning national championships, they've got to convince more southern kids to come north. Considering how silly FSU made Clemson look (at Clemson for that matter) if OSU had beaten MSU and made it in against FSU, I think they would have been humiliated
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 Years
Late to the party... but... it may have something to do with the fact that the Big 11 sucks. Their region's top talent leaves every year to go south (why? Because it's freaking COLD up there!), they are always late to the game when it comes to playing modern football, etc. Heck, if it weren't for the University of Chicago's gift, most of those schools wouldn't even be considered "great" academic institutions.
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsI I disagree that weather is much of a factor. The real factors are the high school ruling associations. In Pennsylvania, for example, high schools cannot have spring training and cannot compete in 7 on 7 or it is a violation of association rules. Most of the New England and mid west states have similar rules. The result is that there is currently a huge imbalance in the training, coaching and experience afforded to the kids whose states limit their off season preparation.
Re: Big 10 is now 8-16 in Bowls in last 3 YearsI do believe cold weather is a factor and it's easier to get kids from up north to play at southern schools than vice versa. It's also why there are so many quality basketball players in the north and why the Big 10 is such a strong hoops conference. A lot of bball players could have excelled at skill positions in football if they had chosen that path.
