Given that most Freshman will be Redshirted (in a perfect world). Realistically which Freshman could start or make a strong contribution next season?

QB Darrell Colbert 5'11" 185 4.5/40
QB Jordan Severt 6'4" 225 4.7/40
LB Lance Cottrell 6'2" 205 lbs
LB Chris Jefferson 6'3" 210lbs 4.6/40
LB Anthony Rhone 6'1" 215lbs
WR Kadeen Goulbourne 6'4" 209lbs
WR Jordan Ingram 5'11" 175 4.32/40
WR Shelby Walker 6'0" 175lbs 4.4/40
C Braylan Walker 6'3" 280lbs
OL Evan Brown 6'3" 290lbs
S Nate Givens 6'3" 180lbs
CB William Jeanlys 6'2" 180lbs 4.4/40
Anyone else?

Can't see anyone in this class being a starter or strong contributor from day one though a couple of the WRs will undoubtedly have their redshirts burned for a few plays (a June Jones tradition).

No reason not to redshirt all of them. If they burn another redshirt on a player for 3 to 5 plays a game it would be a shame (again).

I agree with sbsmith. I think Nate Givens might play. Less immediate contributors than even last year on weaker team

You mean safety Nate Gaines?

Too early to say. They haven't gone against college players yet. But there should be more spots open to competition: WR, QB, OL, couple of LB spots, CB. If someone shows up in shape and has a strong camp, I don't see why several couldn't play.

Put some pads on Emmanuel, and I bet he would make an impact on Junifers team.

I think Bama, Auburn, Ohio State, LSU, USC, Georgia, Michigan State and Notre Dame are going to have some really good ones that will certainly register.

Oh...wait, you mean for us?

Seriously though, I wonder if Kyran Mitchell or Anthony Rhone get some snaps at ILB? We will be thin there, especially if Pope moves to RB full-time. Who starts there? Not sure if Yenga is big enough, although he's as talented as anyone in our LB corps even if Seals and Sanders start at OLB and could still add some weight. Horton? Carroll? Bordano? Wimbley? I guess there's the JUCO, Tuiasosopo, coming in as well.

Rhone is skinny. he won't see the field for at least two years.

Mitchell said his "goal" is to be 210 when he gets here..... He's too tiny as well.

HELL! I would just go ahead and switch QB, Jordan Severt, to ILB. Unless the starting QB has a serious injury, June only plays one QB for the entire season. . . Doesn't matter if it's a close game or blowout

Taylor Reed was under 200 when he got to SMU, too.

I'm intrigued by all four of the Lamar guys, and I wonder if Walker (WR) is good enough to contribute right away, at least on special teams.
