Petrino back to Louisville?

Postby East Coast Mustang » Tue Jan 07, 2014 10:55 pm

If so...wow. College football coaching hires have truly come full circle. Does he just resume that 10 year deal he signed with UofL in 2006 or does he have to sign a new one? (kidding)

For what its worth, there is a strong belief on the “Western” side of the state that Bobby is moving…

Good move, easily the best coach they could conceivably get.

Bobby Petrino with his Arkansas ho, and Clint Hurtt (Miami sanctions and not allowed to recruit by the NCAA) as one of Petrino's assistant coaches. . . Give it 3 years, and Louisville will be in the NCAA crosshairs. . . Not that the NCAA will dole out any punishment to cheaters these days

Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, reflecting on Petrino's decision to abruptly leave the Falcons in 2007:

"He is a coward. Put that in quotes. He ruined a bunch of people’s lives, a bunch of people’s families, kids, because he didn’t have enough nuts to stay there and finish the job. That’s the truth."

"He’s a gutless b—–d. Quote that. I don’t give a s—."

When told that we might might not be able to use the B word, Zimmer went one better: “How about this, gutless MF. You can use that.”

Louis Dover, who coaches at Seneca High School in Louisville, perhaps best summed up the feelings many people in football have about Petrino. “As a coach, he’s a genius, he’s one of the elite minds,” Dover said. “Personally, well, he’s a good coach.”

Dover said some of his distaste for Petrino stemmed from his treatment of D. J. Kamer, who played for Petrino at Louisville and for Dover at a previous employer, Waggener High School. Kamer told Dover that Petrino tried to persuade him not to attend a friend’s funeral in which he was a pallbearer.

“He was very disappointed D. J. was going to miss practice to go,” Dover said. “He didn’t say, ‘You can’t go.’ He said, ‘I guess you don’t want to play football here.’ ”

Full disclosure: I think Petrino is a complete word that starts with a P and rhymes with click, and I'd take him over June Jones in a heartbeat

Interesting. ESPN says Chad Morris and the D Coordinator at Michigan State are alson in the running. So basically he's up against possibly the best offensive and defensive coordinators in college football right now. If I'm UL I hire the other guys. I will say that I wouldn't want my child playing for him, and based on that standard I wouldn't want him coaching at my school.

As far as being a fan:

HIRING PETRINO IS LIKE DATING PAMELA ANDERSON 15 YEARS AGO. IT WILL MAKE YOU FAMOUS AND MAY BE BORDERLINE EUPHORIC WHILE IT GOES ON BUT SHE IS GOING TO DUMP YOU FOR THE NEXT BIG THING AND THEN YOUR STUCK DEALING WITH THE STD THAT SHE'S CARRYING FROM THE WASHED UP DRUMMER SHE DATED BEFORE YOU.

Louisville has done quite well since Petrino left them the first time so I see no reason why they wouldn't excel once he leaves again.

Guy can coach, but he is despicable human being. If I am a parent, no way am I sending my kid to play under him.

The question isn't IF he'll be successful - he absolutely will be. I'll put money right now on him having a 10 win season at UL while he's there.

The question is what is it going to cost everybody around him. At EVERY STOP he's left someone holding the bag or blatantly went behind their back, with only WKU being exception because they knew what they were getting and put a $1.2M buyout clause in their contract - good for them.

Question for Stallion or any lawyers out there:

You represent Louisville in this case. You know full well what you're getting into. What do you put into his contract to protect yourself when this jackaninny decides to dump you/cheat on your wife/kick an old man down a flight of stairs?
