I thought these numbers were pre death penalty.

that's what I said. The DP skews numbers after DP from 1989-2007

I understand that is what you said, I just do not understand how it was relevant to the pre death penalty numbers he posted. Of course, I do not know the point of the numbers he posted either.

Something about comparing what June has done post DP?

Now those wouldn't be pretty numbers to compare June's record against SWC opponents but that wouldn't be fair-comparing apples to oranges-so I won't-probably in the teens

It's confusing cause he says SWC all time winning % then references % till the death penalty. I think it takes out losses post DP cause we traded posts on this in the bball page. I think if he used our % from SWC beginning to end counting our post DP record until the SWC disbanded. We would have a losing winning %.

Ponyboy can clarify, but I am pretty sure that is the numbers he is using.

If so, it does show we were pretty darn good up till the DP. And we played lots if tough teams outside the SWC along the way.

What I was trying to get at is this. Including the Pony Excess years, how did we stack up in the SWC in terms of win percentage? I was really not, consciously at least, trying to do any more than that.

We averaged 6-5 in the SWC

But this shows, we were traditionally better than Baylor TCU and Tech. All of which are in front of us now.

I think they all have been a better league for about 20 years which attracts BETTER
recruits.

Which is where we should be in terms of recruiting.

If we can draw from SWC historical results, (and assuming that we didn't get the DP) we can conclude that SMU should be a regular conference championship contender in Big 12 conference and a 9 win minimum team in said conference.

Higher than TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Kansas, Iowa State. Possibly tied with the Pokes and Kansas State, competing to dethrone OU or UT every 2 or 3 years.

As far as our program getting into a BCS conference, I don't think SMU has put in the work necessary to be part of a BCS conference. We need to consistently win our conference and get into/win Big Bowl games in the new playoff format (which means we need to be ranked highest of the G5 teams which should not be an insurmountable challenge considering we need to beat Boise State and Northern Illinois in the rankings if we are AAC champs and since AAC is strongest G5, just being the champion should get us into a BCS game or whatever they call them in post BCS era).
