I have seen people speculate on this, but he has officially taken the OC job at Jackson State. Yet another coach hitting the bricks...

The running backs were terribly coached in '13. Timmy might be decent with the quarterbacks, but rb coach was not the job for him. I'm not sure who is on the market, but I imagine there is room for drastic improvement.
Let's just rid ourselves of Barocio-Leon now, and hope one of the coaches was taking good notes when Mumme was talking. Then pray.

The basic problem is that June wants a blocking back, not a running back. Thus, he favors bigger, slower backs over guys with speed to really break off some runs. Line was simply not fast enough to be an effective runner.

I don't think coaching was the problem.

Kevin Pope will be more than adequate at both in 2014.

Unfortunately, we need Pope to play LB.

Actually, as of today (Tuesday), Pope's possible 2014 eligibility has not yet been determined.

The running was pretty bad, but there were A Lot of missed blocking assignments, particularly in the first half of the season. Keep in mind I'm not an expert on it, but I thought I saw them taking the wrong first step wayy too often. Though the pass blocking did get better toward the end, so maybe that is to Timmy's credit... But overall, I thought the running backs were very underwhelming this season. Here's to '14!

Any idea of the timeline for a decision on Pope's eligibility? Have I missed that?

I'm not saying it'll happen right away, but I bet Chang ends up being a really good coach one day. Maybe even as a head coach.

Could also be do to the lack of full speed/full contact practices JJ likes to have and it takes a lot of games to get used to the speed of the game.
