For real. This dude had like a million offers from some pretty tight programs (bama ohio state ) wth is this dude thinking on picking SMU. Am I missing something here.

Got his offer pulled by Louisville, all the other programs that originally offered him filled up at RB and weren't interested. After calling a bunch of G5 schools to gauge their interest his decision came down to SMU, UTSA and Colorado State. He's a hell of a player (and the only one in the class capable of making an immediate contribution) but we didn't go toe to toe with any P5 programs to get him. More details on the recruiting board.

He was committed to Louisville but their new coach does not use a fullback so they parted ways about a week or so ago. Other schools ran out of space for fullbacks. His coach called some programs and SMU just happened to be one. It came down to UTSA and SMU. So he picked SMU.

“It was a spur of the moment thing. When I talked to the SMU coaches, they told me they saw my tape and were interested early on, but they didn’t think they had a chance at me because of my offers so they never got in contact with me,” Gresham said. “But with everything out of whack, they said they were definitely still interested in me.”

I don't waste much time complaining about our current coaching staff, but I get a little twinge of anger every damn time I read that quote...

Tells you what they themselves think of SMU. Why should any big time recruit come here when the staff doesn't believe the institution can be great? What a terrible example for the head coach to set for this staff and players.

Ratings inflation. They are obviously trying to get more members even though they lower their credibility by doing so. Ridiculous.

This makes any Jones/Hart argument that we cannot compete for these high rated kids null and void. If you want high rated kids you have to put in some work, no matter how hard it may be.

According to our staff, Gresham had too many offers and they didn't think he would be interested. Great recruitors aren't they?
