Competitive with Baylor

I am tending to agree with JasonB, PonyPride, FTHP, and others that we will be competitive with Baylor when we play them Not that we will necessarily win but at least keep in within 10 or 12 points. If our recruiting and coaching is as advertized by them then it should be one good game. UCF beat them badly so we can at least hang with them, no excuses. Go Mustangs.

I will agree with this statement. I have been reading this board for a long time and see that many are too negative and bearish on our program. It is a tough road to success, but I think we are starting to move in the right direction.

Baylor will come out tough next year, no doubt about that...but I think that we should be competitive enough to prevent a 60-3 spanking.

I think it will be closer to a score like 42-31 than the ridiculous blowouts we suffered last year.

These PF mass delusions have started up earlier than they normally do. Probably should go back and look at our last game in Waco versus Baylor, we lost by 5 TDs and we've gotten worse since then while they've gotten much better. Expect a score in the neighborhood of 66-13 if Briles is feeling generous that day.

If in this year of Coach Jones tenure I guess I just expect more than to get blown out. If they did lose the game by more that 12 points it would be disappointing. No more excuses. Let's play hard and do well.

Baylor's WRs vs our secondary will be painful to watch. Not recommended for children under 17

I saw this thread and thought maybe I was on the Basketball board for a second. While the theory is sound, there is no evidence to date that JJ will have his team prepared to compete against Baylor or anyone else on our OOC slate. Just not how he rolls, apparently.

86, you seem like a really nice guy and you always have a positive outlook, but you've completely lost your mind.

If we keep it within 28 points, I'll be shocked. SHOCKED

"If in this year of Coach Jones tenure I guess I just expect more than to get blown out", means nothing. Look at the facts, our recruiting has left the cupboard very very bare. Jones isn't some masterful wizard that he pretends to be. He runs an offense that can beat lesser competition, but isn't the equalizer when there's a lack of talent like many suggest. It's dated and the best thing to happen to it since he's been here, Mumme, is now gone.

Petty is coming back at qb for them and should get some chatter about a dark horse Heisman candidate thrown his way. The dude threw 3 interceptions all last year for crying out loud. Burcham threw 4 in 2.5 games against much lesser competition.

WAKE UP!!!!!!

I just assumed 86 was being sarcastic and saying the blowout in Waco would be an indictment of JasonB and PonyPride's rose-colored assessments.

I'm stunned! BOLD prediction by 86. Full credit to him for the cajones.

I'm in the minority who feel we actually we have some horses in the cupboard, and while I'm not happy with everything going on, I do generally believe our kids get top notch coaching. All that being said, I expect a pistol whipping next year in Waco.

I *think* we'll be greatly improved on D, and even though Sam Rice is gone, I have some hope for the O-line. But especially early in the season, I don't think our offense will be able to stay on the field long enough to give the D any rest. So I expect to hang with them for a half, and probably watch the Bears blow the game open in the second.
