Steve Broussard - new coach

Postby GiddyUp » Sat Mar 01, 2014 9:34 am

I guess he'll be the new RB Coach?, was fired at UCLA

http://www.bruinsnation.com/ucla_bruin_ ... -broussard

interesting note in article:
So UCLA needs someone who is going to go after elite talents with the same tenacity we see from coaches like Adrian Klemm.

According to Dwan he was one of the best recruiters at UCLA. But I can only find 2 recruits that he landed at UCLA in the past 2 classes. He is probably where we got the leads for the QB and athlete that SMU offered in California. "At the level we are" this is probably a decent hire.

David Woods of Scout's BruinReportOnline.com identified lack of recruiting ability as a possible reason for Broussard's dismissal—specifically regarding his failure to establish a connection with top recruits like 247Sports composite 5-star all-purpose back Joe Mixon.

Hmmmm.

I guess if he can watch tape and send out offers that is good enough.

could be worse-he had a decent reputation for recruiting before UCLA-but he's never recruited Texas as far as I know. I'm not going to get worked up about it because June is about to get fired-and no decent coach wants to sign up for sinking ship. He has worked at UCLA, Arizona St and WSU so he knows what is expected

"At the level we are" we don't need to recruit. Excellent hire.

Cue Mexmustang to talk about how we don't pay our assistant coaches and how Turner is purposefully sabotaging our program and that is why we ended up with this guy

Broussard actually had the title of Recruiting Coordinator at Arizona St, His reputation as a recruiter is a little better than represented in this thread-but its true he didn't have much success at UCLA

Sounds like a pretty good hire convincing him to jump aboard a listing ship.
