Man, who gives a rip about same sex marriage?

Just another reason I despise politics, the mainstream media and organized religion with political agendas.

When I heard about how he got fired, I felt that he probably had a decent case.

If someone on the other side of the issue ever got fired for being pro gay marraige, the Left would demand immediate reinstatement and .... they would be right. For the exact same reason, James' should be entitled to his job back.

It is important to note that James' comments were not made during work and were not particularly inflammatory. Not that long ago, Bill Clinton had similar views on the subject.

remember the source...breitbart may have a tiny bit of a leaning toward the right-wing...just as HuffPo is a little left leaning [sarcasm intended]

Why do we insist on perpetuating this? It's stupid, it's never been particularly clever or funny, and regardless of what you think of Craig James as a person in 2014 he's one of the best to ever suit up for SMU so I don't see why you or anyone else on this board feels the need to denigrate him in this way.

Leave this moronic slogan for the TCU trolls, please.

What Craig James said is:
“People choose to be gay,” he said during an April 2012 campaign appearance. “I think it’s a choice, I do. Same-sex marriage, if someone chooses to do that, that’s done. And God’s going to judge each one of us in this room for our actions. And in that case right there, they’re going to have to answer to the Lord for their actions.”

he is implying that his religious belief is god will punish gays for being gay. If gays had a choice, why would they pick gay and be subject to all the harassment and taunting?
an insensitive and stupid statement that insults gay people.

One of the greatest ever. No doubt. However, at this point he is making an [deleted] out of himself.

Pontificating on "morality" and suing a corporation in a right to work state. Kind of says it all.

Whether James' opinion is right or wrong is irrelevant. His right to say is the most important issue.

The '64 Civil Rights act protects people in the work place from religions discrimination (Title V, I believe). Like it or not, there are no legal protected 'gay rights' that trump legally protected religious rights. So he may well have a case regardless of whether his opinion is right or wrong. He has the right to express it without fear of reprisal as his rights are codified in the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

I know I just defended one of the most hated former players on this board so let the dissents begin.

I really like Craig James. I just happen to disagree with him on various issues.

James is hardly hated on this board. This is a football board. Anyone who ever saw the guy play and is associated with SMU either as a fan or alumni knows how athletically gifted he was. Glad the guy chose SMU over Alabama. To play for us. Forever grateful. He is also a nice guy in person. Dare I say a good "people" person.

However, how do you expect people to react on this board? a warm response to a wealthy individual crying wolf under the guise of religious liberty while his personal politics are pro corporate to such an extent that he undoubtedly would support the "right to work" legislation that made it possible for FOX to fire him in the first place? If James was ever elected I seriously doubt he would have much good to say about the Texas Workforce Commission or any organization that serves to protect the "little guy" against corporations.

As the Sun comes up in the East, right on cue...

I will admit I know almost nothing about James as a player and don't know anything about his person or character. So I do appreciate your insight.
