Each year, every NFL team is allowed to invite a number of players with local ties to what amounts to a tryout day that doesn't count against the team's allotted number of private workouts. To qualify, the players have to either grow up or play college within a certain number of miles of each NFL team's training facility.
The Dallas Cowboys will hold their "Dallas Day" workout next Thursday, and once again, SMU will be represented. Invited to attend:
CB Kennety Acker
QB Garrett Gilbert
WR Keenan Holman
WR Jeremy Johnson
CB Chris Parks

I honestly didn't know that teams got a limited number of private workouts.

I think they're allowed to bring in 30. Someone on ESPN was talking about it, and how surprised he was that Manziel took a visit to New England when there's no way he falls to them, no way they trade up to get him and therefore it was surprising that they might try to float a smokescreen out there.

If he has a shot it would be at safety. Good for him for trying. Might as well live your dream until you have to wake up.

Agreed. If someone gives you a shot, why not take it?

I'm not stepping in the cage with Anderson Silva even the day he broke his leg:

Have to know your limits and being the weak CB in our D I can say he won't make it.

Like it or not, he was our second best corner. He may have been suited better elsewhere.

If that was the drop off then it's scary to think of the rest of the corners. Baylor will be fun...

Just look at what happened when he was not on the field. 3rd and 35 against Rutgers in OT for example. He was #2 behind Acker or someone else would have been playing. And yes that is scarey.

To be fair, he was second on a team that had Horace Richardson and J.R. Richardson both coming off knee injuries, and Ajee Montes was a redshirt freshman. Lots of players go through a learning curve.
Hope our guys show up big at Dallas Day. Good luck!
