Apparently the thread with the June Jones commenting about the negative aspects of the SMU facilities was deleted. Anyway here is the CBS article.

I can't express enough how much i support June's position on the OOC scheduling. Yeah its cool to play the big boys and all but i'd rather start 4-0 and when we build our program through the kids that that kind of record brings in THEN we start scheduling the bigger schools OOC.

'we don't have an indoor facility, we don't have huge meeting rooms. We don't have the things in place that some of these schools we're going against have'

We also don't have a coach who cares about the school, who cares about our traditions and who wants to recruit the best so we can build for the future. But not to worry, we do have a coach who is more than willing to cash his $2 mil a year check for just being disinterested.

At least there are only eight more months until we can watch him pack his bags and sail back to his islands.

It's year 7. In your opinion, at what point should he have the program built up enough to schedule these teams? 15 years?

That is total BS. IMO tiki was brought here to a) turn the program around, b) win a conference championship, c) build a top 25 team that would be competitive with our old conference foes and d) put us in a position to gain admission to one of the P5 conferences.
Yet in year 6 and 7 he whines and makes excuses because he didn't get the job done and refuses to take the blame for his shortcomings.

Probably the same thing that will happen with this thread. . . That's why this will more than likely be my only post on this thread.

yep- the 'nuclear option' always seems very popular when unpopular things are discussed.

Who exactly would you play to get that 4-0? TCU certainly wouldn't be apart of that so there goes our biggest rival and even NTSU is no guaranteed win in our program's current state. Keep in mind that pulling relevant competition off the schedule will hurt our TV exposure and our attendance which is going to make recruiting and contending for conference titles much harder. If June had spent these past 6 years making recruiting a priority and using our schedule as an advantage instead of a crutch then he wouldn't have to be scared of teams like Baylor in Year 7.

why was the original thread deleted? don't ppl have the freedom here to express their own opinions? that being said, june's excuses are absolutely pathetic. the fact that in year 7 we still can't hang with the BCS teams in Texas is unacceptable. June and staff's lack of recruiting is to blame. He should've spent all this time building relationships with dallas high schools, but absolutely nothing on that front.

Every year a new excuse

Horse too small
Stadium lights
Admissions
Need black jerseys

Now it is meeting rooms too small.

SMU could build an interactive holographic IPF with warp drive and it would not satisfy JJ

I am going to make a remark here and it is not an endorsement of Jones. I have made my opinions known in that regard many times. But I interpreted the article differently than most others have. I do not hear him asking for any of those facilities. I just hear him saying we do not have the huge dollars that the big boys have to build the palaces that they build. We have posts with pictures on this site of some of the big guys who have recently remodeled and there is no way we could compete with that. When you get $15,000,000 for a bowl game and $16,000,000 from conference proceeds like the SEC, then you can do much more from a facility standpoint. I just cannot disagree with the opinion he gives on the facilities. I can disagree with his approach to recruiting. There are plenty of good players in our own back yard we should be working everyday.
