Could be a disaster. .... or could be the path for the ultimate dream: our private status giving us special privileges and winning big time

Let's do it and open the floodgates. Only way we can roll with the big dogs.

We still wouldn't have the money of the big dogs but I think we would do well.

We don't have the money at the moment, but I think once we bring the talent needed and wins start racking up, our revenues will definitely skyrocket from our current levels. Look what we did in basketball in one year.

Tell me why this affects SMU? Are there only 17 private schools that play D1 football?
Our revenues will skyrocket...if we get into a P5 conference and get a 700% increase in conference money. AAC payout sucks.

Most of them are in P5s except SMU, Rice, Tulane and Tulsa...

No, they don't have to pay taxes as part of the negotiated compensation package of being an employee/athlete of the NCAA.

Fine then, each school can either raise the level of salary to compensate for taxes or not require the employees to go the school and just play football. Schools that have lower compensation probably will not get the best players. Either way with increased benefits, taxes will not be an issue imo. This is more of a scare tactic by the NCAA and anti player fans. And all these scare tactics because the players are trying to get better insurance.
