We don't play at JerryWorld...and don't field a baseball team...they might not know about us...

Think a university should have a baseball program before being recognized by the local MLB team

Don't let facts get in your way of being outraged

When I was in school, SMU students could get discounted tickets to pretty much any Rangers game. Of course, the Rangers stunk back then, so I'm not certain that is still the case

UNT doesn't compete in division 1 baseball but they are being recognized by a MLB team. They have a club team. Doesn't SMU have a club team too?

We are Dallas. The Rangers have always been much more Ft. Worth IMO.
Plus, our demographics don't really overlap that much anyway.

The press release doesn't say the Rangers are honoring local college baseball teams — just local universities. This is weak on their part.

Very sad, particularly when an out of state school is on the list.
The concept is really cool, especially giving out Rangers caps in the university's colors, but what a slap in the face.
We should join UTD, UD, DBU and anyone else and protest.

We have been grouped into the "others" category with UTD, UTA, UD, and DBU, by a mediocre pro sports team. Just save your dollars and go all in on SMU athletics/sports. I am no longer going to Rangers or Cowboys games and instead upgrading my basketball and football seats at Moody and Ford. Oh and since Mavs got knocked out, that's an extra $200 towards Mustang Club

Maybe they just didn't think it would be exciting to do SMU since they wouldn't be able to make a silly hat in different colors?

Are you speaking of fan demographics? If so, how are the two so dramatically different?

UTA has a current player starting on the rangers (Michael Choice) and a D1 baseball program and was not included. But I think we should be bothered by this too. The demographic we're looking for are general CFB fans....most rangers fans fit that category.

Who can be contacted at SMU about this? Granted, the Rangers can honor whoever they want, but some of us know people at SMU, and maybe someone can reach out. This is ridiculous and insulting. No more Ranger games for me.
