Mustang Helmet

Postby PoconoPony » Tue May 13, 2014 1:13 pm

Featured on today's SVP & Russillo show on ESPN is a beautiful white SMU helmet and red Mustang placed right next to the mike. It makes the other display helmets simply disappear.

It's a great looking helmet, for sure.

Best helmet in college football - and one of the most instantly recognizable too.

After the NIT and them putting us next to the Minn helmet, I'm starting to have a lil dislike for the Gophers. Let's schedule them. Where's General Patton? What's his handle this month?

I believe the Gophers start a home and home with TCU this year in football.

Goofy little 'needle-like' stripes!!! LOL!!!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I'd prefer for them to be wider as well, and consider that a cleaner look- why did we ever change this from the uniforms in 2008-2009 or whatever when they were wider?

Oh I know. I have the mini-helmet with the wider stripes the way they should be and I sit and stare at it for at least 15 minutes every night it's so satisfying.

I also saw the irony in those 2 helmets next to each other. We really only have ourselves to blame in blowing the NIT championship game. And then Larry screwing up and putting a freshman Sterling Brown on a senior Austin Hollins who hit the game-winning three.

I plan to be there in Fort Worth on Sept. 13

I realize this may be a dumb question in regards to the helmets on SVP and maybe it is just the angle that is making it difficult to recognize, but what school is on the far right?

Also I would have to agree about the stripes, but would y'all rather have the skinny stripes or no stripes at all on the white helmet, similar to the Cavan years in the late 90's? I also have that mini helmet and even that look with no stripes is better than the Phil Bennett blue helmet years.

We need the wider stripes back on the helmets, and stripes on the pants

would be great too.

Looks like a soldier/ militia with a bugle - and a medium brimmed hat. Black or purple & gold?
Might take a little digging.
