OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseball“@Keith_Whitmire: Seeing all the buzz about TCU, DBU and other Texas schools in the college baseball playoffs and SMU doesn't even have a team. smhâ€
“@Keith_Whitmire: Interest in college baseball gets bigger every year. And SMU's athletic profile gets more diminished by not participating in it.†SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four

Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballWhat ridiculous comments. Does an 0-fer conf play bball team raise TCU's profile?

Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseball
I think many of us agree with or at least understand what he is saying.....it would be nice to be able to field a baseball team....if DBU can assemble a competitive team then it shouldn't seem impossible
Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballI think it would be cool if we had a baseball team, but let's be honest- no one gives a [deleted] about the College World Series outside of fans of the teams in it.

Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballTotally wrong assessment. Nobody gives a flip about college baseball in any town with a pro baseball team.
Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseball
And apparently SMU is the only college the local pro baseball team doesn't give flip about. Watching the Rangers game today and if see the TCU or Baylor "college night" commercial again I'm going to pull my hair out. And Gary Patterson will throw out the first pitch....kill me. Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseball
We should get the Mavs to do an SMU night. Have Larry and the team there and introduce them during a timeout or something. That would be a lot cooler than some lousy baseball game out in Farlington 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballThat's a great idea

Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballtruth hurts. big time college athletic programs field baseball and softball programs. HUGE expense for SMU when you consider the cost of facilities (land acquisition for starters?) I'm thinking we would need to huge chunk of real estate east of Central for an Olympics sports venue and throw in baseball/softball while you are at it. Where is that billionaire benefactor who wants SMU to join the big boys?

Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballI'm amazed by how simple some of you think it is to put together a legit D1 baseball program. And DBU is nothing more than a glorified JUCO.

Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballDouble Down in Football...it will do much more than having a baseball team will. Once we are in a big boy conference we can think about adding Base/Softball
Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseballIf any of you think we're adding baseball in our lifetimes, you need to put the crack pipes away

Re: OT: Whitmire fires shots at SMU for no baseball
Stop wasting time on the Rangers. They are a bad baseball team, they'll lose a lot of games, their radio guy makes me want to drive off a bridge, and it's way too hot to go out and watch. That way, they could dig up LaDanian Tomlinson or any other stupid Frog, wheel them out there and you wouldn't have to see it. Problem solved. Once a Mustang, ALWAYS a Mustang!
