That was an awesome game.

We may have only beat TCU twice in the last 15 years or so, but both of those wins kept them out of BCS bowls in 2005 and 2011

Bennett was right about one thing: SMU has not learned how to handle success. IF we play Baylor HARD like we play TCU every year, we will beat them this year. They will be cocky and arrogant because of their new stadium and their newfound fame after being bottom feeders since the beginning of time. But let us not forget, SMU has dominated TCU and Baylor throughout history, and in my mind inferior to SMU. We are in a better city, our university is better and our girls are hotter. Look at the bright spots SMU has going for it: the AAC is an upgrade from CUSA in both basketball and football and the conference should be clear favorite to earn the BCS bowl (considering the collapse of MWC, the nearest competitor). Our TV coverage is the best we have had in our history (as good as any P5 contract, except money ain't there). Basketball is proving that we can attract casual Dallas fans which want a college football team in Dallas to cheer for. Our recruiting has improved significantly and I hope it gets better. Man, I can't wait for us to get back to the top...only this time around I am sure we will come with 60K fans wanting to see us play a game.

I was a freshman for that game, and I still remember storming the field.

After that game we went to Ice House, and celebrated with long island iced teas.

Got to taste my first bubbas breakfast that following morning (not by choice).

Good ole freshman year.

The BCS evolved into the College Football Playoff...the format changed slightly to have the National championship teams go through a playoff, but you still have the major "BCS" bowl games (Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, Peach, Orange). The AAC would get the G5 automatic bid. In essence what they are doing is treating the entire G5 as if they were a P5 conference, since they are giving the G5 1/6th of the revenues and an automatic bid into a Big bowl like the P5 do (what sucks is you have to divvy up the money between the 5 conferences and the bowl slot has to be fought between the champions of the 5 instead of 1 champion of a P5 conference.) Only difference is that they will argue the G5 schools strength of schedule is not up to par to the other P5 that are ranked highly therefore why an undefeated UCF, Boise, SMU etc. may get to be ranked as far up as #5 and never get in the playoff.

I do believe they will expand the playoffs to at least 8. What that does for the AAC remains to be seen. The nastiest thing the P5 did was play only each other in the bowls. How chicken spit.

The name BCS is dead. Stop calling them BCS games.

"The BCS relied on a combination of polls and computer selection methods to determine relative team rankings, and to narrow the field to two teams to play in the BCS National Championship Game"

"Unlike college football's title system used from 1998 to 2013, the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), the new format does not use computer rankings or polls to select the participants. Rather, a committee of 13 experts selects and seed the teams"

I actually preferred the BCS system to this "playoff" which is technically exclusive and only permits P5 conferences. The BCS allowed good non-BCS teams to get in a bowl and possibly participate in a national championship if they were ranked high enough and the strength of schedule was deemed sufficient.

BCS is dead. Your lack of knowledge never ceases to amaze me.

One of the big bowls in the new system has a reserved spot for a G5 team numb nuts. That actually gives us MORE access than before. And no non BCS team was EVER going to get into a national championship game. Doesn't matter

Lord, the Ice House was such a complete sh*thole. Used to have this creepy guy working the door who tried to use magic and free beer to get people to come in to the bar.

I'd say more he needed free beer rather than had it.
