Interesting new conference realignment chartThis was probably made by a fan, but I thought was pretty interesting. Basically end the current FBS conferences and move towards regional conferences.

Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartWith Comic Sans font, I feel like it is safe to say a professional did not make this chart...
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartOf course not, which is why I said it was probably made by a fan. The idea is interesting though.
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chart
I knew it was wrong from the start. . . When you see Wyoming with the Oklahoma & Texas schools. Probably not a lot of thought on that one. 2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartI like it. Simple and makes sense.
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartid have my calendar circled for that akron pitt game in late november to see who is in the drivers seat for the central region

Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartRegional conferences don't work because the future is conference networks that need large subscriber bases to generate more revenue. This is how I see it going down in our best case scenario long term:
Pac-12 adds Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State SEC adds Va. Tech and NC State B1G adds UVA and Notre Dame (B1G will have enough East Coast exposure for ND now) ACC is backed into a corner, adds Cincinnati, WVU, and UConn to replace losses AAC is decimated, as is Big 12. The B12 leftovers (Baylor, TCU, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State) merge with some of the AAC leftovers (SMU, Memphis, Houston) and some western schools (Boise, BYU, UNLV, SDSU, etc) to form a fifth conference that isn't terrible. The playoff will inevitably extend to eight schools, and the fifth conference will hopefully get some representation at the table. 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartDisclaimer: who knows what will actually happen. If you'd told me five years ago that Rutgers and Maryland would get B1G invites and TCU and West Virginia would be in the Big 12 I would've said you're nuts.
Here's something that has always peaked my curiosity and would have drastically altered the current landscape: what if the Big East hadn't foolishly rejected Penn State in the 80s? http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/05/sport ... d=all&_r=0 A football conference with Penn State, Miami, WVU, VT, and Pitt would have been formidable, and I've always wondered if Notre Dame wouldn't have taken a sweetheart deal to join that conference for football as well. Remember- ND's big hangup with the B1G is lack of East Coast exposure- the Big East with PSU would have given them that, and likely commanded a huge TV payday for all members -- not to mention the basketball would have been awesome as well with Syracuse, Villanova, Georgetown, etc. 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartAnother kitten dies. But I digress. This is never going to happen.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartAlmost all conference games would be 80-0 with that chart.

So you're saying there's a chance? Honestly, I don't see Congress touching this issue with a ten foot pole 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient

or a nine foot hungarian...(badabing) The problem, again, is money. The "power conference" schools have a guaranteed revenue stream, and are at no point ready to share. The other problem with the original chart is Baylor...like TCU, they have done what is necessary to become a player in the discussions. They will not be left out. What is necessary? 1 WIN 2 Play anyone, and... 3 WIN and recruit...did I mention that? stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Interesting new conference realignment chartWhat's so "interesting" about this chart? It's embarrassing and sad really.
