Former SMU, Texas RB Traylon Shead declared eligible for NFL supplemental draft, per agent

Former SMU running back Traylon Shead has been declared eligible for next month’s NFL supplemental draft, his agent, Louis Bing of Zoe Sports, tweeted Wednesday.

Shead’s decision to forego his senior year at SMU is not a surprise. He did not participate in SMU’s spring practices and was not listed on the team’s depth chart. At one time, Shead had planned to work out for NFL teams at the school’s Pro Day.

Originally a Texas recruit, Shead (6-2, 225 pounds) was hindered by injuries this past season. He was hurt in the season opener against Texas Tech and again later against Temple. In four games, he rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns
