It's not serious; the kid is going to be let go and is going to JC and the school and program is going to move on.

I would be interested in knowing what caused it, though. I have seen too many times where the male student-athlete is accused of doing something only for someone to come back with a video or other proof that the kid did nothing to warrant the accusation.

Punching a chick in the face is not serious?

Not if you handle it correctly.

I'll wait to see what actually occurred before I pass judgement, but if the kid is actually that much of a [deleted] then, like I said, the school will quickly release the kid and publically come down on him like a ton of bricks. It will quickly become old news.

The girl who got punched is having surgery. The fact that a guy thinks it's OK to punch a woman makes it very serious. That she is having surgery makes it more serious.

I agree.

But while most people would believe that a girl getting raped is a serious situation they would have a different take on Brian Banks story. Same thing with the BYU football players who were accused of rape and later found to have had consensual sex with the BYU student who accused them. Or the St. John's basketball players. Or Duke lacrosse players. Or Alabama coaches.

Again, if the kid is as dumb as this indicates, he is going to get dropped, possibly face charges and a lawsuit. It's the school's and program's job to figure out what happened and act appropriately, and if they do so it is a manageable situation.

She may have assaulted him, in which case her being female is not a special privilege to avoid a deserved punch to the face. Let's wait for the facts.

How frequently do women (athletes or not) assault football players?

I have been assaulted by a woman. Ended up with cuts and bruises but I did not hit back.

If women want equal pau die equal work and fair treatment, then there should be fair treatment. Assault is assault.

Of course of the guy is already off the team that probably isn't what happened
