Re: smu tops tcu but...They have to get to the NFL without getting drug busted or assaulting someone. Tough in Fort Worth...

Re: smu tops tcu but...Needs heavy rotation in the social media recruiting circles. Need every single selling point we can find . . .
Re: smu tops tcu but...Too bad that is not the ultimate goal. A nice by product of a winning program, in most cases (not ours really).
Never the less - the recuriters should be opening with that line.
Re: smu tops tcu but...Every program should use the advantages that they have to their advantage when recruiting instead of harping on the things we don't have.
Re: smu tops tcu but...What were the Rivals rankings of our NFL guys
![]() I'm guessing mostly 2 or 3 stars. 0 stars for Margus. Guess JJ can coach a little bit. ![]() May the forth be with us.
Re: smu tops tcu but...No one ever said he can't coach, trollbait.

Re: smu tops tcu but...So, our assets include:
1. A solid record of sending players to the NFL 2. A solid academic reputation, including one of the top undergrad business programs in the U.S. 3. A strong alumni network who can help players find jobs after graduation in a city with one of the world's most dynamic economies 4. A nationally recognized MBA program and Law School 5. A beautiful campus 6. A location in the middle of some of the top high school football programs with many of the top recruits in the country 7. A TV contract that televises every conference and home game On the liability side we lack: 1. An IPF 2. A better conference room Looking at the ledger it's easy to see why we can't recruit against Alabama and TN ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: smu tops tcu but...Weaknesses:
1. We play ECU, Tulane, Tulsa, Memphis in Conference. Rather than OU, Baylor, UT, Etc. 2. We play in an empty stadium with low crowd noise and atmosphere. 3. Low to zero chance to play for a national title The three above points are not mutually exclusive and are largely predicated on point #1. Ipso Facto, if we don't get called up to the big leagues we're a basketball school with a club football team. Truth hurts. 2009 Ponyfans Rookie of the Year
Re: smu tops tcu but...And....we have a realistic chance at being at the top of our conference year in a year out as opposed to most likely being relegated to the bottom of the conference year in and year out. Just saying. Sometimes winning does help. Always losing never helps.
Re: smu tops tcu but...No reason we shouldn't be in contention for the AAC title every year with our facilities, location, academics, etc. We should be able to recruit just as well if not better than every other team in the conference. 2015 recruiting is off to a great start but we need to finish strong, whether it be with JJ or a new coach.

Re: smu tops tcu but...The truly sad thing? Name me another non P5 school in the country that has the kind of built-in advantages that SMU has? I can add them up on one hand:
BYU - Tradition, money, national following, good academics....but its a Mormon school UConn - Excellent basketball, terrible football, good academics, decent location, terrible for football recruiting Cincinnati - Very good football and basketball, decent academics, terrible location Houston - Good football, awful academics, great recruiting location but school is located in a sewer UCF - Good location, good recent football success, terrible academics, commuter school Honestly, there is no non P5 program in the nation that has the combination of location, money, facilities, recruiting base, alumni network, campus, etc. that SMU has at its disposal. The fact that we are not knocking on the door of Top 25 every single year is a joke. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: smu tops tcu but...^ Sad but true.
I'd throw Boise in there, too- Great football, great facilities (now, compared to other G5 schools), terrible academics, terrible location...and look what they've done over the past ten years 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
