That is probably a very true statement. When you continue to 'recruit' at the same level year end and year out, but do nothing to do better then you are 'as talented' as each year prior.

Based on your recruiting strategy, yeah. How pathetic is that for a coach's statement?

If we're as talented as the 2011 squad, we're in good shape.

Only if the team is truly as talented as June's other 7 win wonders (which it's not).

There really is a lot of talent on that offense IF the scheme was tweaked to best utilize Pope, Davis, Gresham, Gaines, Lancaster, DJ, Lasecki, Briggs, and any other 3 you'd like to name.

Imagine that group running something similar to the Ohio State O? Wishful thinking of course.

More talent than his first team with all of Bennett's recruits and his first and probably best recruiting class????

June really says some dumb things. If every game was prepared like the Hawaii Bowl it would be different

COACH JONES: Yeah, the most important thing, I don't know if it's the most difficult thing, but the most important thing is to get the quarterback to play at a high level. One of those guys that doesn't have the experience in what we're doing has to grow up real fast. We rely on the past. We're going to throw the football. If you look in the book right there, we threw more passes, I think the top three number of passes thrown in a game were SMU games last year.

That is what we've had success with all my career, wherever I've been. That is the thing that has to happen. Our quarterback has to play at a high level.

Translation: Even with a really good backfield, and a questionable QB, he's gonna throw the ball come h*ll or high water.

This guy is so bad in interviews, it's amazing he's had the jobs he's had. Could you imagine sitting across the table from June with him as a candidate, he can't have been impressive.

There is so much to criticize him for, but that does not mean he has to be criticized for everything. This all sounds like standard generic coach speak to me. I am very confident that if he said that talent was down he would be getting ripped for that too.

Classic June-speak. He has said the same thing millions of times. Move on...
