DALLAS (SMU) - With the 2014 season less than a month away, the SMU football team is set to stampede into fall practice later this week. Players report to campus Monday, August 4, for meetings and photos, with practices set to begin Tuesday night.
SMU enters the season looking to build upon its run of recent on-field success. The Mustangs have been to four bowls in five seasons and have won 35 games over that span, the eighth-best five-year stretch in school history.
The Mustangs open the season on Sunday night, Aug. 31, against former Southwest Conference rival and No. 10-ranked Baylor when the two teams open McLane Stadium in Waco. Kickoff has been set for 6:30 p.m., with the game being nationally televised by FS1.
SMU football tickets are a hot item, with almost 3,000 new season tickets sold and total season ticket sales nearing a new record. SMU's 2014 home schedule includes games against Texas A&M, TCU and AAC rivals Cincinnati and Houston among others.
