The NY Times has a front page, first column story on Fresno State trying to adjust to the new P5 rules. In this case, Fresno State represents most of the G5 schools trying to understand and adapt to the new world of college football.

Reminds me very much of SMU.

SMU has the endowment and private support to fund the full cost of attendance. I see the increased cost paring D1 down from 124 teams to around 100.

NCAA and the P5 know that if they allow transfers without penalty then the G5 will get poached and this rule alone will cause teams to drop out. All competitive hope disappears at that point.

The NCAA doesn't want only P5 teams in D1. It makes an already semi pro model look even more professional. It would mark the end of college football. So I don't see the transfer rule getting changed.

both of those rules changes have already been nixed as part of the autonomy agreement. Nice work NY Times

typical. This is why the NYT is only a shadow of what it once was. I will be surprised if it is anything other than regional by 2020.
