BATTLE OF THE WEEK: The "competition" for the starting left tackle job has ended. It belongs to Kelvin Beachum, who started 11 games there last season after beating out Mike Adams, who started the first four games of 2013.

Adams, a second-round draft pick in 2012, was expected to mount a challenge for the job this summer but it never materialized. Beachum, their seventh-round draft pick in 2012, has improved and Adams has not. Beachum (6-3, 300) is a lot smaller than Adams (6-7, 323) but uses technique and his hands and feet to better advantage.
