Apparently this Ryheem Malone has come out of nowhere and has shown to be one of the most dynamic kids on the field. June has mentioned multiple times now as well. Very similar to Lancaster so they may have found their slot receivers of the future. Neither has obviously done it in a game situation so it'll be interesting to see if they can translate practice success into game success.

Also seems that Davis is gaining ground on Burcham and his arm may be better than most think. If he can pick up the offense, and we struggle out of the gate as anticipated, he may very well get his opportunity at QB. Too dynamic a player to keep off the field.

To be within 3 TD's at half time we will have to score 2. Baylor's gonna score, especially with our DB's being the weakest group on Defense IMO. To be in this game really gonna have to score 3 TD's per half, come on Bennett D-Game Plan, don't fail us now.

Up to this point in camp, we have heard/read a lot about how well the safeties are doing, and the LBs. As well as the young corners.

Last year, the defense was great in training camp as well.

For the next two weeks, they will start focusing on getting the 1's and 2's ready for the season. That is when the offense starts to gel and play better. I'll be interested to see how the secondary fares the second half of camp.

On a side note, it really sounds like ILB is Yenga on one side, and then Horton backed up by Bordano on the other. Sounds like Tui and the Rice transfer haven't been able to break through quite yet?

The Safeties will be exposed as below average against Baylor. All of them. We have no quality safeties. Greenbauer is serviceable but certainly not much more than average for this level. The position grade is no better than a C

You might be right but didn't you also once say that Cole Beasley was a "below average CUSA slot receiver"? Baylor will have one of the most prolific offenses in the country so I don't know that I would judge our safeties based on that game alone If we surrender a ton of yards and points through the air against UNT then yeah.....we are in big trouble. There will be some Top 20 defenses that give up 35 plus points to Baylor this year.

Greenbaur played really well against Tech last year. He was a 3 star on rivals and equivalent on ESPN. I think he was a pretty decent recruit, and has played pretty well. He is above average at least for the AAC.

Richardson was a 3 star ESPN and had one BCS offer. Was young last year, but I think he will be above average. Not sure if he is there yet, but he really stood out athletically in fall camp last season.

Randolph was 3 star on Rivals, Scout, and ESPN. He struggled the first two years, but it looked like he played well in the spring and may have finally grown up. Athletically and recruit wise he is above average for the conference.

AJ Justice was 3 stars across the board as well. Hasn't broken in yet, but is still young and sounds like he has grown up a bit over spring and this fall.

I would say that of all of the positions on the field, Safety is probably the one that was actually pretty well regarded by the recruiting services...

I think they may be a lot better this year with more experience. The recruiting ratings suggest that the potential is there...

I think I agree they fail the college level eye ball test assuming you mean former SWC. They are in there with AAC - except for maybe Houston and UCF

Greenbauer was definitely the QB of the secondary. We were lost last year after he went down in the Memphis game. Secondary was lost the rest of that game and remainder of the year. I do not claim he is the biggest or best around but he is certainly a vital cog until we can find someone else to do better
