AAC looks somewhat weak in football so far

Postby SMU 86 » Sat Aug 30, 2014 8:59 am

Houston is down and UCF is struggling with their new QB. No reason SMU should not expext 6 or 7 wins in conference alone. Anything less would at this point seem to be somewhat of a disappointment imo.

They interviewed the ucf AD at halftime. The lead in said he was to talk about The American's success. Instead he made no mention of the AAC and talked about "leveraging our location our size and who we are." "We want to be one of those power schools."

UCF's AD was just interviewed at the half. He was asked about the P5 and what it means for UCF. He was sure selling his school but not our conference. I don't blame him though. At this point in the game, the have-nots are fighting for themselves

The AAC will never be accepted as a power conference. It is every school for themselves.

Yeah the problem with that is we don't take on either school for 3 months so it's entirely possible they could have their kinks worked out by then.

Houston fans starting to talk about hiring aTm's Jake Spavital if they have to release Tony Levine at the end of the year.

AAC is a crap football conference. Anyone with a brain knows this. Despite what Aresco may want to portray, it is 100% every man for himself.

Hell, navy will probably win it every other year once they join.

As of now I can't disagree with that. If SMU doesn't get to a bowl game in this mess of a conference a new head coach is definitely needed.

I realize it's your shtick to be negative and blast everything SMU, but I'd still say the American is the best G5 conference- both in terms of quality of play and TV exposure....and after we didn't give a [deleted] about football for 20+ years until 2008 we're probably lucky to be where we are now.

I think Cincy is the best team in the conference this year...they may very well beat Ohio State. UCF will be solid, but UH won't live up to the hype. Not sure what Temple's got but damn they whipped Vandy in Nashville.

We'll see if Cincy is that good with a new QB and graduation losses on defense.
