Simple - Get Texas Coaches

I just ran into my neighbor who is DC at big high school here, and he brought up how bad we were and how it seemed to him the little he watched we made no adjustments. I asked him what he thought to turn it around and he said "it's simple, get coaches who are from and know Texas, and know us high school coaches."

He reminded me one of Kingsbury's first hires at Tech was Mike Jinks at Cibolo Steele, and that their stud RB Stockton immediately switched from Texas to go to Tech to be with Jinks and that Jinks got 2 other top defensive players from our area that first year. Jinks was beloved at Judson, and then what he did with Steele, and his point is Tech can basically get who they want from these 2 top programs now because of Jinks, or at least get a look from those kids.

If/when a change is made, I think he is right and we should not over think this too much. Get a Texas guy with Texas ties, then go hire couple of high school guys from power programs in north Texas even if they coach only special teams or are "quality control coordinators." Just put them on staff to get the inroads to schools and the kids.

Again, have some plan and work it to at least give us a chance to be competitive. It's really not rocket science and fact we are not doing something like this now is telling.

Exactly, the key to turning this thing around is winning back the high schools. Anyone that doesn't get that should not be coaching here no matter how "proven" their record may seem (see June Jones).

We could start with a new Offensive line coach. We looked worse than that Houston shutout last year
