Totally sixth hand information but this is a message board where rumors fly. So here we go. I'm hearing there's a chance Gresham could play this weekend.

Make what you will of it.

With that horrible Oline play we saw on Sunday, I say just redshirt the kid.

Wonder if we wished he stuck with his UTSA commit

Seems like Junie will burn them all this year

Another redshirt burned unnecessarily. Hopefully this is not true.

I thought he was out for the year with a knee?

He never committed to UTSA but he did commit to Texas and I bet he wished he had stuck with that commitment.

Not true. I talked to him yesterday, and he said he missed a little over a week of practice because of a pinched nerve in his neck …. which is a vast improvement over the rumors of a more serious neck injury or the knee injury. Gresham returned to practice Thursday and said the discomfort in his neck has gone away and that he has been cleared to play. Having missed a bunch of workouts in his first preseason camp, he said he does not expect to play this weekend, but was not sure. He also said no decision has been made about whether to redshirt. That, of course, depends on injuries at the position, whether he works his way into the rotation. But no, he does not have a season-ending knee or neck injury.

Why would that be unnecessary? If he's your best RB, then put him out there. I certainly don't think a lot of the current options at present regardless of what it looked like against Baylor.

LSU started true freshman Leonard Fournette at RB. Baylor started their 2 true freshman wide receivers -- you might remember that one burned the SMU secondary for a long TD catch.

This is only Game 2. If he's been cleared to play, then what's the issue?

I guess 6th hand information is pretty valuable these days....lol

I recently had a pinched nerve in my neck and those suckers will really mess with you for an extended period

Because a lot of times when June has burned redshirts in the past it has been for just a handful of plays per game. That is not worth burning a redshirt imo. If he gets extended time then no problem but it can't be another Jeremy Johnson situation or others like.

right-he would be the 5th RB already used at the position. Again, I really don't mind as long as they play significant minutes for rest of the season.

Understood. But it would be my impression that if he uses Gresham it won't be like that. If he does, then he continues to demonstrate his mismanagement of his roster.

Like I said I think the other options are not options. I don't understand why we're getting Prescott Line shoved down our throats other than the last name. That might be the politics in all this rather than using your best personnel. June is so lucky he even got Gresham but that's another story.

Not sure why any politics would remotely have to do with anything.
Quarterback preservation would be the main reason for Prescott- he is a really good blocker. There are a whole lot of coaches in the NFL and in college that won't have backs playing a lot if they don't block well. Prescott actually ran pretty well last week.
I think the combo on Pope/Prescott and Durall or Niemchi will do pretty well. I'm Gresham will fit in there somewhere when he is able to practice a while.
