Four years ago, when I called for June to be dismissed because of his cruddy offense and "I don't care" recruiting, I was burned as a troll. The majority of the board was happy going 7-5 and playing in the weedeater bowl, like it was progress, even though anyone with a winning record went to a bowl game. In conference USA, we beat some of the worst teams in the nation to get a tick above .500 and be bowl eligible.

That is not progress, June's offense was outdated 15 years ago, he has no interest in recruiting. The vast majority of SMU's roster has no business playing D-1. Poor, POOR Recruiting.

We could have saved ourselves all this 4 years ago by recognizing the signs that were so obvious. Too many though were happy with a 500 hundred record and going to the Toilet Bowl.

Now it will take at least 3-5 years to start over with the right hire.

This is all on the ones that supported June that got giddy we went to a cruddy bowl while in a cruddy conference and any cruddy team with a 500 team got a bowl bid. I called for us to be smarter and demand more, but no one was interested.

A 43-6 loss to UNT is what we get for our stupidity.

Lets enjoy being the worst D-1 in football, get the right coach, and maybe in 4 years we can come close to being relevant again.

Yep had the same opinion. I stated he should have been fired after the ASU debacle or at least at the end of the year, however that wasnt within public opinion. But sadly even if we were able to get 100% approval on this internet board it wouldnt make a difference. The CoC clearly didnt know how to manage the situation or they just said June is our last hope and if it doesnt work out oh well.

4 years ago we had progressed from where we had been - positive performance. Stagnation or a decline in performance would result in a call for action which is where we are now and why more are calling for a change. Your prediction came true - congratulations. We are not hypocrites, just more risk averse. Vegas loves you. Hope you stay off skid row.

You can't fire a coach who takes a program to 4 straight bowls after 20 losing season, regardless of the changes in recruiting rules and more competitive advantages than his predecessors.

He has to lose first. Nobody is going to look past a loss like this or a season like this. He will be gone after this season. But there is no way in hell it could have happened prior to this. The national media would have laughed at us and it probably would have hurt us more than helped us in recruiting. No coach would have taken the job because of the negative national publicity it would have recieved.

If SMU is scared of the media backlash then not only does the head coach need to be replaced but all others above the coach. You can't make business decisions, based how the media will react to your decisions. If you do you have already lost.

Not when it comes to kicking us around. If we'd have fired June before this season we'd have been eviscerated in the media. Though it totally would have been worth it and we'd have still gotten a good replacement.
