Riley would be okay with me if we can't get some of the top tier assistant coaches. I think we should at least try for the top OC's first.

Riley plays a Texas Tech offense (Mike Leach Offense) which has worked out for Sumlin, McRufffin (ECU), Kliff Kingsbury and Art Briles.

True not a bad 2nd tier option but we have to go after Morris, Herman, Montgomery first.

Why on earth would Riley move from a good team to a crap team in the same conference? He'll just win the AAC a couple times and the P5 will be falling all over him.

Please don't give the typical SMU reply about money either. He'll get way more money by showing a little patience and cashing a P5 check in a few years.

We are insane if we think we have any chance of landing Morris or Herman. Why the heck would they take a lower level job when they can have their choice of P5 jobs?????

Never gonna happen so take them off the list right now. Montgomery a much more realistic target.

We pretty much upped the ante on paying coaches. Subpar coach for 2M?

Give them a call anyway. You never know until you try. If they say no then fine but never give up before you try.

A Montgomery type that doesn't want to spend 3 or 4 more years as a coordinator, but isn't really ready for the P5. Morris, Herman, and the other consistently named top 5 or 6 hot head coaching names are just waiting for their best P5 opportunity. We need to go to that second tier (still plenty of good young coaches) and hopefully catch a little lightening in a bottle. Also think those touting Coker are off base. He's simply too old and if you look at his recruiting classes they are mediocre at best. Love his scheme and his system but he fails the 'young aggressive recruiter' wish, miserably.
