my wife feels so bad for guys on team

Postby BUS » Sat Sep 06, 2014 7:33 pm

To let these kids go out to compete and not prepared. It is cruel to talk up games and not coach the guys up.
Jones will be gone as he does not care enough to get his recruits ready.

If turner does not end this abuse to these young men... he is not being responsible.

Bus, my wife feels bad for me when I watch SMU games. Stacey generally comes by about midway through the 2nd quarter and checks for a pulse.

She is a 'Nole, and has commented on the fact that our house is "a mix of the sublime and the absurd" re. college football. The games we have attended at Ford have given her a picture of what could be, if there was a decent product offered. Doak Campbell is not all that and a bag of chips, but the product brings the people. She commented today that something is wrong if there is not a change made regarding leadership, immediately.

Did I mention that I married way past my station in life?

Bus, she does understand why I despise Baylor...she is a great pastor's wife, and smiles at the myriad of Baylor grads in church, nods at the plethora of Aggies, and has sworn that our last daughter will have the benefit of going to a college where she receives a great education, and has a great athletic program to compliment the student experience.

As far as the phone calls, be absolutely and completely honest when the folks bring up the morass that is SMU football. Let the folks "above" you know of the comments. While money talks, lack of it shouts...in this case, dissatisfaction.

Hopefully someone is listening.

But June DID coach the kids up. Problem is that his recruits the last 4 years have such limited potential that their potential ceiling is far lower than most Division 1 teams.

Mine: "why do you get your hopes up every year, when you know they are just going to suck?"

Sad thing is I had no expectations this year, but it's so bad I'm STILL disappointed. Awful.

81- If your daughter is going to Baylor she may see great sports but she's not going to a very good university.

I feel bad for the guys on this team. Any upper class guys with talent are not going to enjoy any success on the field the rest of their careers and a lot of the young guys are going to have to transfer once a new coach takes over. Playing out this season with JJ at the helm is going to be tough on all of them. Even the guys who still love and respect him aren't blind to what our fan base is going to put him through.

Under no circumstances will my child go to Babylon on the Brazos...full stop. My feelings about Baylor run very deep, back to childhood days, and up through the time after the game that Mike Ford was quietly mourning a goal-line fumble that cost the Mustangs the game in Waco, and one of Criswell's entourage walked up and said "nice hands, Bud". Ford, who was a pretty good sized fella, acted with class and didn't squash that bug. I haven't always been a Baptist, and wasn't always a pastor, and probably said some things to that man that would get me kicked out of church work.

gostangs, I may have to preach to 120 years old to afford it, but I believe in SMU as a fine educational institution and will endeavor to send her there if she desires, but the fun side of college football is presently lacking at our school.

Bus, I felt the same way about our players last year b/c it's been obvious for a few years that they weren't prepared for games. When I got a call asking me to buy season tkts, my reply was "I will not be buying season tkts as long as June Jones the coach."
