Re: 37 point blowout loss to UNT
Can we ban these north texas state clowns? This is an outlier and we will go back to what we have always done, beating NTSU on and off field/court.
Re: 37 point blowout loss to UNTNo we need to take our medicine and never forget what complacency gets us

Agree. If anyone here starts posting in a manner described as unacceptable by the mods then banning is fine. The fact that they believe they are better than us and just beat our butts in an embarrassing fashion should allow them certain crowing rights. There is a way to silence that but it will take a change in direction for the football team. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand

Agree as well. Let them crow. They will make their own bed.
Re: 37 point blowout loss to UNT
Unfortunately myrdel has it right. One way or another I've been on this board for a long time and remember when the talk was with TCU fans after the Frogs had started the action which led to their present position. It was obvious the two football programs were on different tracks but some of our posters continued to talk about SMU out recruiting TCU and winning the next game and so on. That dialogue no longer exists. There is still some SMU smack, yes, but TCU is ahead and some of the TCU posts we see are from people sympathetic to our plight. Its the same way with UNT now. This is a conversation about sports and football. No bragging about academics or the potential value of a degree or student demographics is relevant, or the BB team. We are in a situation where UNT at least has parity on the football field for the foreseeable future. It does not matter if we we have a W - L margin to use up. We had that with other schools too, and an overall winning percentage, but is has been a while since an SMU football coach won half his games at SMU. I hope that the SMU football program can be revived but there is little enough I can do personally. I'm 800 miles away and not able see a game often, or contribute. I understand that there might be some conference rearrangements some years hence when TV contracts are renewed. To me it is apparent that big state schools will be at the head of the list for P5 consideration: UCF, USF, SDSU, Houston, even UNT, CSU and Memphis. The big state schools which already have P5 status will support their applications. I don't know how to address that. I thought SMU had good marketing in the eighties, and some options and possiblities then that no longer exist. If there is a way it starts with winning games. IMO the talk from UNT may help. Gosh knows if SMU faithful are allowed to say it, we ought to be able to take it from others.
