Charlie Strong is going to clean that program up and within 2-3 years they will be back on top. I wanted SMU to consider him when we offered Bennett. Texas will take their lumps this year but I wish we had a guy like Charlie Strong running our program

The Horns didnt look much better than us last night. The local wisdom is that Strong gets a pass this year because he is purportedly cleaning house of a bunch of bad characters. While it is true that he has lost some talent, only a small % of the team has left or is suspended. I think that his roster is much stronger top to bottom than BYU. They were beaten by a team that was better coached and had a better game plan.
I was amused by the TV announcers who kept insisting that BYU must be the second coming given the fact that they manhandled the Horns last night. I don't see UT finishing above .500. BYU actually may have beaten a fairly bad team in Austin.

Strong is in year 1 of a process that had to be done. Between the Ash injury (he should never be allowed to play again) and the clearing out of the bad apples, expectations were pretty low. Next year, they better get their ship together or Strong will have problems.

Starting center is out with a broken ankle and Charlie Strong suspended two other offensive lineman for the BYU game. Throw in a sophomore QB making his first start, usually not a good recipe

Guarantee their backups and backups backups are as high or higher rated recruits as their byu counterparts

Three of their next four games are UCLA, Baylor, and OU.

and they were all Mack Brown's recruits. In case people haven't noticed, Mack and his staff loaded up early on 4 and 5 star guys but ignored character and work ethic issues. I would venture a guess they've had as many highly rated guys turn out to be busts as any program in the country. Strong will use due diligence in recruiting and will be successful with the resources he now has
