Rick Hart looked a bit dazed or maybe just nervous.

Turner seems cool, collected, and without a doubt the "alpha dog" in the room.

Of course he was but he handled it just fine. Probably his first big issue to deal with.

Hart said the personal problem existed before the season started and thats when June first contemplated leaving; Rick, it sounds like, knew about the problem before the UNT game (though maybe not the extent of it)--he didn't specify whether running an obsolete offense was the problem, but it sounded like there's something else there.

Turner said June and LB both came to them. They're going to do the most comprehensive search they can and how it plays out is yet to be determined, though they are not scrambling to get it done.

Hart admits this team has a lot of obstacles to overcome, and asks for the constant support of the fan base through this season. I think we should do our best to lend it, and try to help our chances of landing a great coach and great recruits, regardless of the season's outcome. Guys like Greenbauer and Thompson deserve it after all the sweat and effort they've poured into our team.

Obviously it's really early in the process, but so far the Narrative that is shaping up couldn't be much better for us. Right now it's a love fest between everyone. The School loves June, June loves the school. Everything would be great if only the crushing pressures of a cruel world hadn't torn them away from one another.

At this point, we appear to be in a much better position than we were seven years ago.

It sucks to have such turmoil in the middle of the season, and the players deserve better, but for the first time since the ASU fiasco, things are really looking up in the long term.

The Jones exit has been handled far better than the Bennett exit. Turner and Hart did a fine job. Hart may not be as smooth as the mob boss is/was, but he doesn't need to be. The press conference went well. In part, because June wasn't around to spin the facts the way Bennett was allowed to. I thought Turner and Hart answered the questions well and did their best to eliminate any doubt that SMU is willing or capable of competing.

I hope the reporters listened to the answers and don't just vomit "death penalty" and "academic restrictions."
