Musers talk June resignationJust did a short segment on June's resignation. The highlights:
- George said one of the worst college teams he's ever seen in person (-16 rush yards through first 2 games) - June was "stealing money" recently. Talking about him spending national signing day week in Hawaii - speculated that he wants to still coach and wanted to resign before going 0-12 and being fired - stated that if he really has no health problems and just wanted to get away from a bad situation he is complete chicken sh*t
Re: Musers talk June resignation
All true.
Re: Musers talk June resignation
Wonderful contribution. I like how you've changed it up from just saying "this" in every thread. Sent from my Motorola brick.
Re: Musers talk June resignationThe 0-12 thing was interesting. Basically, Junior said he talked to a guy close to SMU who said that June wants to really continue coaching and was afraid that he would go 0-12 and that would kill his chances of getting another job.
They said that if that was the case June is one sorry individual. George said he hoped that wasn't the case and their was a personal issue. They brought up the ASU thing and said that June did a great job bringing the program back but they thought he was going down hill since missing out on the job. They also brought up the HS coaches saying we weren't recruiting. Again, it is interesting the narrative from the Musers wasn't that SMU is a lost cause of a job but that June wasn't working and even said he looked like he was stealing money the last couple of years. Re: Musers talk June resignationImpressed that by and large the local media so far has the right perspective (see coop and JJT and now the musers)
Re: Musers talk June resignationYes. Those blow outs and the HS coaches going public helped change the narrative, it seems to me.

Re: Musers talk June resignationI think we all owe EJ a big thank you for helping to change the narrative. He really has pushed the truth the last few months.

Re: Musers talk June resignation"If" June truly retired, we should just be grateful and move on, glad for the fact the the money in still in the bank account and we don't have any egg on our faces. The perception on the outside is that June is the guru who brought SMU back from obscurity. As an example, the announcers on the UNT broadcast were still repeating that same worn out line at the beginning of the game.
Personally, I think June's honeymoon with the university admin was over. He wasn't getting the concessions he felt he needed – like those he was able to drive at the beginning of his tenure here. I don't necessarily believe June was being a chicken [deleted]. I think he looked around, took stock of the situation and wanted to salvage his reputation, so he bailed. Any way you look at it, a break needed to be made, and from my perspective this was the cleanest possible break scenario. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
