Do not want him as a coach, primarily because he just said he does not want to coach. He is speaking today at the Little Rock Touchdown Club. Very passionate man. Says only 3 things in life matter to him. Faith, family, and football. He has 7 kids so apparently there is another "f" in there somewhere.
He said he has just bought a house in Dallas and is enjoying his family. This would certainly be someone to try and get involved someway with our program. I am not the visionary to see how, but with the passion he professes for football and being in our backyard it would be good to try and involve him somehow before Jerry swoops him up.
He did strongly say that due to his father's neglect and divorce of his parents when he was 12 that he wants to be with his kids and grand kids as much as possible. Certainly not a coach's life.
Just a little story I thought I would pass on.

That'd be great but would Baylor sit by and watch one of their greats help the lil rival up 35?

I know. But I don't think they would like it just on principle.

What could we do about it? i'd personally like to see Mike succeed and it isn't like SMU is TCU or A&M.

Did you even read my post. This was not a coaching recommendation. Just a get involved with our program. Even if just speaking at one of the luncheons. He is an intriguing person, a person of faith, a family man and one of the most fierce competitors I have ever witnessed. Make him welcome at our school.

He is an atrocious head coach and coordinator but he is a dman good LB coach. He would be a great fit here for that. As a huge niner fan I would love to see him brought on staff. He did wonders for Bowman and Willis as well as turning around Vernon Davis's career. Very tough and keeps his players in line. Would absolutely welcome him in for a LB coaching position
