SMU lags behind in D-FW recruiting, mystifying area high school football coaches.

Has the zombie apocalypse just happened? Why is SMU all of the sudden getting press to state what PF has said for years?!? It is a negative article but supports SMU while pointing the finger back at the coach for disinterest.

EJ at Scout really stated it first. Some PF members tried to say everything was okay.

yeah E.J worked at the DMN with Corbett too on high school reports and they've even had some web videos discussing this before.

While TCU’s Gary Patterson and North Texas’ Dan McCarney have made it a point to engage with the area’s high school coaches, Jones did not.
For example, until 2012, the North Texas Football Coaches Association held coaching clinics at the area’s three FBS schools, with more than 300 coaches in attendance. Patterson and McCarney are regulars at the clinic, available and engaged as much as their schedules allow. (Patterson’s connections with high school coaches are even tighter, hiring popular Arlington Bowie coach Kenny Perry in March 2013 as his director of high school relations and recruiting; Perry was promoted to cornerbacks coach this spring.)
Jones, on the other hand, showed little interest in participating in the clinic, making a few brief appearances. Over the past two years, SMU declined requests to host the event, forcing organizers to move SMU’s dates to Garland Lakeview.

One high school coach called Jones’ lack of interest in D-FW-area players “almost comical among my tight circle of coaching friends.â€

Whether it’s just perceived or not, it comes across that his interest just isn’t where a lot of us coaches think it should be,†Hurst L.D. Bell coach Mark Smith said.

Just going into bizzarro world for a second..maybe June Jones was intentionally trying to kill interest in football - any football, as it's played because he's worried about head injuries. Let's see, I've heard HE might have health problems, he seems to move slower and slower, he took lots of hits from a long college career and a journeyman NFL career, had head injuries from his car crash, doesn't like contact in practice (sounds like largely to avoid head injuries), goes out of his way to be on the leading edge of helmet protection technology...my theory is that he's halfway given up on football because of head injuries and might be seriously slowing down himself. He's always been strange but seems to have gotten stranger and slower in the last few years. All bets off if he's named the Hawaii coach and shows a pulse. I nominate my very own post here for the strangest post of the year

Why aren't Rice, UH, UTEP and others on the list? If you are going to make a comparison, at least be complete when doing so.

I find it interesting that we have significantly fewer players in the overall program.
