How about a young aggressive coach with Texas ties, Mike Norvell.? Home town Irving Texas. Drawing some Texas players to ASU. Offensive coach elevated to assit. head coach. Must be grooming him for head coach if head coach leaves. Texas ties, west coast ties, some Tulsa and pitt. ties as well. Pay $500,000.

Morris is from Texas, went to Texas A&M coached HS football in Texas, college football at Tulsa for a season, very well connected in Texas and is one of the few it coordinators in college football. Pretty much a no-brainer. Pick him up, sign him to a reasonable contract leaving enough to pick up the tab for an amazing staff and do it again in four years because he has moved on to bigger and better things.

Reasonable. Or...he could get an extension and more money to just keep coaching his 10 win team straight into an access bowl and into a P5 (dream scenario)

Some Buckeye fans wanted to "have a word" with him after the VT game. Hasn't been seen since

Forgot about Herman as he would be an excellent choice as well. Just added him.

When I added Herman it started the poll ever again. Morris had the overwhelming lead before the poll started over.

Shaw the HC at Stanford. Knows how to win and recruit the right guys to win at a high profile private school that also need to excel in the classroom. I think Texas ties are great, and if the guy has them ... a bonus. But, not the end-all to be-all IMO. The good ones all know how to recruit, and develop HS relationships. Mac ... a TN guy with zero TX ties until he came to UT. Mike Leach ... a Cali guy (did not even play college ball) with zero TX ties until he came to TT. Gary Patterson is a KS boy, no TX ties until he came TCU ... grant it he started as an assistant first not the HC. Kevin Sumlin is a AL guy and played at Purdue ... never got close TX until 2001 when he spent one season at A&M as the OC, then on to OU until UH HC. Larry Coker is a OK guy etc. Examples abound of guys succeeding big in new zip-codes. I realize that all theses guys probably ventured into TX to recruit sometime during their careers before they wore the HC hat ... but we are talking TX coaching roots ... I thought ... with my GP disclaimer.

Am I saying I'm not high on Chad ... H-LL no. He would be my first choice off that list. But if Shaw called, or someone of his statute and said I'm interested ... I would not hesitate a second. MY point and MO is, TX coaching roots would not drive the bus for me.

Norvell would not be bad. I would put him just behind Morris, Beaty, Spavitol, and Herman.

Texas ties meaning Texas recruiting ties.

He made a statement today in how the offense played but they were not playing a very good team.
