Dabo Swinney/Dave Beaty

Interesting comparison for Swinney and Beaty. In 2008, Bowden leaves Clemson at mid-season. Instead of putting a coordinator in charge, they hire the recruiting coordinator/receivers coach Dabo Swinney. Dabo had a great reputation as a recruiter, and great relationship with the players, good receivers coach. That apparently was the reason for the hire.
Given the mention of Dave Beaty as an SMU option, they are coming from pretty similar paths in some respects. Beaty has actually been a coordinator as well.
I have no idea if Beaty would be good for SMU, but the Swinney path may make him a more viable option.

Beaty would be a good choice as well imo.
