Despite physical mismatch ...

Postby Water Pony » Sat Sep 20, 2014 4:48 pm

reading this board gets old, when most of the posts are negative. There is no surprise. But, the theme gets old, as if each post has new insight.

JJ didn't get it done in recruiting and A&M is truly gifted. But, I will always love anyone who wears our uniform and plays his heart out for SMU.

And, students, if you want better teams and recruit a great coach, I suggest you show up for these games.

I agree. Look, we haven't recruited for ***, and we're playing teams that are in the top ten in the country. Of course there is a mismatch in talent, and it's going to be ugly. And we are almost completely starting over with the offense. However, the guys don't seem to be giving up, and if we keep this up we'll get a few teams in conference. It's not going to be a good year, it's certainly not where we should be after seven years, but we've seen a heck of a lot worse. We are NOT the worst team in the country, despite what the first three games look like.

I credit anyone who showed up for this game and don't blame anyone for leaving early

False, in every way 1000%

I hate to pick on your comment cuz I like you but this is emblematic of intangible skills, good effort, and other unquantifiable ramblings that plainly and simply have absolutely nothing to do with why our team sucks...

All this narrative does is provide cover for that bo0b who left our program in shambles and the president who has been enabling this idiocy

we had one of the best student turn outs i have ever seen at the start of this game - and that is after getting blown out twice. We can give the rag on the student thing a rest.

You think we get these games scheduled because of merit?

No, it has nothing to do with merit at all. But the fact is that we have scheduled a bunch of tough games, for whatever reason. So of course when you don't recruit, you look like... this. And when you are trying to install a new offense and have to do it on national TV against a national power... What else can you expect? I am just pointing out that the boys haven't quit- and we've seen games when our guys have had enough. We won't sniff a winning season, but if the guys manage to hold together we'll get a few in conference. We aren't the worst team on the planet.

As long as they don't quit they're winners!!! Enough said!

JJ was the quitter - not the team.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

This was the most obvious physical mismatch this year. THe O dod compete better than against NTSU.

Note the huge difference in turnovers this game vs. the previous 2. We did a much better job protecting the ball.

A young walk-on QB limited the O. Still, they protected the ball and moved it at times. Got a long way to go but there was improvement.

Absolutely. The Mustangs showed signs of life today that had not been there in the previous two games. I doubt we'll beat anyone this year, but we played hard at times today and at this point, that's an improvement.

The program has a ways to go.

Georgia Tech, one of our peer institutions from a football standpoint is now 4-0. They by have played Wofford, Georgia Southern, Tulane, and Va. Tech. That's what you call scheduling. Why do we front load our schedule with all of these top 10 teams?

georgia tech is in a P-5 conference. No idea why you think they are our peer.
