Re: QB Guru?Haven't you heard, we have a ton of QB talent. They all look great in practice playing against FCS players

Re: QB Guru?Yeah. Three weeks ago everyone was screaming about how Cassel was the only QB on the roster who had any arm what-so-ever against Baylor and should start. Nevermind that he was the only QB who played with a pocket around him because Baylor stopped blitzing and he could actually step into a throw. Anyway, then we put a RS FR into his first college start with limited weapons around him against a top 5 team and now all of a sudden he is a junior high player.
So, SO, rs-fr, fr, fr. How many QBs have we run off over the past 20 years because they "suck", only for them to go have success elsewhere? I hope that it makes you guys feel great calling people out individually. The difference is that if I am wrong about the QBs after they have a chance to develop, I'll come out here and say that I was wrong. You don't have the integrity to do it if the reverse comes through. For example, I'll admit I was wrong about the state of the OL. I made a bad assumption that our DL was going to be pretty good this year, and when the OL played well in practice that the OL was ready to go, despite their youth. Dead wrong about both of those thoughts at this point. On the other side of the coin, I'll point out that when everyone was ready to burn GG at the stake after a couple of games, I was the one saying he would end up playing pretty well and get drafted. Honestly, I thought he would be drafted higher, but he did get drafted.

Re: QB Guru?I love it. JJ is gone but the pitchforks are still out.
Our fanbase sucks. Can we please move on and work toward making this program better. On the field and in the stands. Like many things that go on in this great nation, there was no exit plan with JJ and we are going to pay for it. Fix it next time. Mustangs Abu!
Re: QB Guru?
JJ just left 2 weeks ago and left SMU with a mess that could take years to fix and you want everyone to just forget about it. Well it may take a while. Sorry, but every time we see this team it is a result of people like you who blindly supported that couldn't see the truth 3 years ago and now we are paying for it. The frustration is not going away anytime soon so deal with it. #HammerDown

Not so fast, there will be plenty of time to move on later after the new guy gets here. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: QB Guru?
He does not owe anyone anything except courtesy, same as is owed to him.
Re: QB Guru?
A bunch of us were pushing to make this program better over the last 3 years, but CERTAIN PEOPLE continued to prop up the most powerful man in the program who was building a house of cards just waiting to collapse.
Re: QB Guru?
Umm... maybe 2 if I'm being generous. The fans definitely turned on Bo Levi, and he did go on to have success, albeit at lower levels. Padron? June turned on him. Willis? June again. Bartel? He got the boot because he couldn't follow the rules. We didn't run him off because we thought he sucked. He obviously had talent though and that's why he played a few minutes in the NFL. Luker? I don't know, does an indie record count as success elsewhere? McCown? I don't know what pushed him away from SMU, but he's the only really successful one.
Re: QB Guru?BLM, Padron, McCown, and Snacks. Off the top of my head. And all of them were run out of here while we burned them in effigy for one reason or another. Every one of those guys put up bigger numbers elsewhere than anyone we have had post DP except maybe Gilbert last year. And two got shots at the NFL.
All of you who called this happening, yea for you! You were right in predicting doom and gloom for SMU! Hurrah! I'm sure all of the pat yourself on the back threads feel great, and your self esteem is so low that you have to throw your fellow alumni under the bus along the way. I'm sure it feels great being the big person on the internet. Look, we are all aware the rules changed and that enabled June to be successful as much as anything else. But most of us live in this thing called the "real world", and knew that a coach that gave you the first bowls and winning seasons in forever wasn't going to get canned until he lost. He lost, and every single person on this board is fine with him being let go. We were "June supporters" because the program was at least winning, although it wasn't perfect. And we knew there was absolutely nothing that was going to change him being in charge until he lost. So, instead of bad mouthing Turner and the university and the generous donors who formed the CoC, we waited for everything to pan out while continuing to root for the team. How evil of us. Let it go. Take a little pride in the fact that you guys raising up flags the last three years caused the decision makers to act faster than they may have otherwise.
