Built it from scratch at Old Dominion.

3-1 this season after beating Rice today in first-ever FBS game. Now 49-15 in his career.

Someone who should be on speed dial.

Spent his entire career in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, not really a fit for this particular job.

He wins football games. Knows how to build a program. At a good private school.

49-15 from SCRATCH.

Not a fit?

So, Ohioans Saban and Meyer weren't fits in the SEC or Michigander Les Miles at LSU.

We need a football coach who KNOWS HOW TO WIN FOOTBALL GAMES.

If you know how to do it, BUILDING recruiting ties is easy. And, that's why you have a STAFF.

Open your eyes.

Building recruiting ties is not easy, remember we tried hiring some outsider who knew how to win football games and that didn't work out too well. Let's not make this more complicated than it needs to be by making the same mistakes we made last time.

Phil Bennett had recruiting ties. That worked out well.

Disagree, building recruiting ties is NOT HARD. Especially when the previous staff had none.

It's work. Like anything else. Again, that's why you have a STAFF.

Head coach sets the tone. Staff runs with it. Don't rule anybody out based on regional background.

Just get me a coach WHO KNOWS HOW TO WIN. I don't care if he's from [deleted] South America.

Oh. and the outsider never tried to build ties.

He would need a map and a GPS to find Highland Park HS.

Tried harder NOT to build ties. The [deleted] didn't even get us anyone from Samoa.

He's a thief.

Still have to be able to find kids, regardless of admissions requirements.

Point being plenty of guys have kicked butt without be native to the area in which they coach.

The private school issue, in this case, might be the bigger issue. Wilder seems to be doing quite well at a private school -- in the South, I might add. And, he's from MAINE. Hasn't hurt him in Virginia. Why? He can coach. He can win. Obviously, as such, he can recruit -- going toe to toe with the ACC/SEC schools.

Chip Kelly was from New Hampshire. He did quite OK at Oregon.

Again, open your eyes. We need a young program builder. He seems to be, at the very least, someone we should be doing some due diligence on.

Phil Bennett didn't have a model to win in FBS, not all that relevant to our current situation. If the June Jones ordeal taught us anything it's that HC experience is overrated. It doesn't matter how much some guy won somewhere else if he's not a fit for the job. I'm not sure what makes Wilder a fit for the job, he hasn't even won all that much in FBS.

ODU is a state run school and not a very highly rated one.
