why have we made this so [deleted] ourselves.
anyone who witnessed our great teams of the 80s knows that we can have a great football team.
here are the things we need:
great coaches
great players

this is what every great team has. it is not some magic formula. it's very easy.
instead we have been mired in mediocrity for almost 20 years. gregg, rossley, cavan and bennett were not on an even field but june was.

june got everything he wanted to succeed but didn't follow through by getting the coaches and players. all he had to do was recruit and get coaches who would recruit. very strange.
we have everything in place.

this should be a easy job for someone willing to work.

if only we could put 30k SMU fans into Ford on gameday...so potential recruits would know we really do care about football at SMU!

We need fans. Great players don't want to play in front of empty seats. We need a great conference. Great players want to play against the best competition. I'm afraid that all of these elements are dependent on one another and we fans need to get on the stick and show up at the games no matter how painful they are to watch this year. I am tired of those who say that they won't support the team until this or that coach is fired or hired or until we beat so and so. There are going to be more bad days than good ones in the near future so we need to gird up, get used to it, and be supportive. If we don't then the deep pockets and the administration have every right to let our program die on the vine.
