Recruiting Rules Question

Postby SMUstangs22 » Tue Sep 23, 2014 12:11 pm

Lets say I have this friend... he has been friends with a coworker for 3 years now. His coworkers son happens to have developed into a fine HS football player (jr). The coworker is a fan of TCU and my friend an SMU fan. Naturally they wanted to see the game together this weekend and he wanted to invite both the coworker and son since he has two extra tickets. How is that viewed?

A bad mistake, we should be distancing good recruits from games and just talk about academics and a good future.

This is about treating a friend to a game I know he would love to see. His son is extremely talented, don't think it matters. I don't think SMU has much of a shot anyways.

Don't ask? Don't Tell.

Seriously, if you are inviting a legitimate friend to a game, you aren't going to get in trouble.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

If you are worried, have the dad pay him back for the tickets. If not, mum's the word.

If it is a pre-established relationship I believe it okay. You can always email the SID or SMU compliance.
