I heard SMU played a recording of the national anthem instead of the band playing it? Is this true? How does something like this happen?

If they hardly play during the game and aren't used for even the national anthem, why do we even have a band?

To fill up some seats?
*note- this is not a knock on the MBand, more of a comment on their section being the only decently full one after the 1st quarter.

We could have a different student bands booked for each game. If they can draw 100 fans in deep ellum sign em up

Video that plays during anthem has music under it (for the HS games we host) and the audio did not get turned down by board op like last week. Our mistake. Apology issued to band directors by me personally. Music has now been deleted off segment to make sure it can't happen again.

Speaking of bands how the hell is theirs allowed to play when we are in the huddle on offense?

It is not against NCAA rules to play during the huddle. You can play any time you want except you cannot disrupt hearing the signals when lined up to snap the ball. So even then you could play quietly.

I thought the rule was you couldn't play more than drums when the other team had the ball.
So, if that's the case, why the [deleted] don't we play when they have the ball?

And Baylor a few years ago proved you could even play during signals if there are no complaints from the offense.

I can tell you that's not an NCAA rule. Maybe a conference rule, or common courtesy.
