Stallion Was Right

Postby max the wonder dog » Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:53 am

Mr. Warm and Friendly consistently has argued that our recruiting classes should be evaluated on the basis of other offers received, especially from P5 conference schools.

After 12 points in 4 games, it's clear that "The Wisdom of Crowds" of college recruiters is the gold standard for evaluating the potential of high schools players. There always will be the occasional DITR, but you can't win with a squad filled with players that other coaches have passed on.

BTW, I couldn't evaluate a Manning at quarterback, but I'm a marketing guy with great faith in quantitative analysis

Only 1 or 2 disagreed. Really not rocket science. We all knew - including the JJ supporters that our recruiting was non existent.

Stallion has a big enough ego without anyone else on Ponyfans stroking it.

It was a lot more than 1 or 2, anytime the JJ supporters were challenged on that point they'd just list off a few DITRs that panned out while ignoring all the ones that didn't.

Don't count me in that list, sb. Treadway is right that we're only talking 1 or 2 posters who supported JJ's recruiting efforts.

Stallion does deserve credit, though, for plenty. Give credit where credit is due.

I am still waiting for all of those Samoan O-line recruits to show up...How much money did we spend sending him out there every year? (as opposed to 5 miles south of campus...or east Texas)

In that same sense, it also means there's a lot of dirt to dig up :)

It was more than 1 or 2, they've thinned out now that June has failed but their numbers were quite robust as recently as last year.

I don't think anyone besides JasonB defended his recruiting. Maybe you are counting the coaching staff. I supported Jones longer than most, but never supported his total lack of effort in recruiting.

Stallion and others who closely follow recruiting were all over Jones from the day he arrived. Just a shame Jones didn't arrive (with the reputation he had when hired) after Larry Brown was on board to show him how to build a program
